Gorrillas in the Mist

I hate that when you wake up, you start to forget all the details of your dream, no matter how vivid they felt hours or even minutes before waking up.

Last night I had a strange dream.  I remember that it was winter, it was dark and foggy.  I, along with some friends and family were at an old Spanish Mission. It didn't have a roof.  Even though it was a little foggy, we could clearly see the night sky and the bright stars.  There was a Karaoke contest.  Each contestant had to choose a friend to sing with. I remember it was my friend Brenda's turn and before she went she turned to look at me and told me she had not had any time to prepare.  She grabbed her partner and they did a Celine Deon number.  It was awful, I saw some people shaking their heads.  I didn't want to tell her it was bad so when she finished and asked me what I thought, I told her I thought it was okay.  Another couple soon started singing and they got the crowd going, the music got louder and there was no doubt they had won the competition.

The next thing I know, the contest is over and it is just me with several cousins and aunts/uncles.  It was still dark and we were still in this old Mission.  My cousin Gerson asked me if I had any idea of anything fun we could do.  I told him that all of us could go for a walk.  He said, "Well, where would we go walking?  I don't think they want to see corn fields and dairies which is what's around this place".  I said, "Well, there is this place that I know of... it's a very long walk but it's a secret road that takes you to this amazing view of the ocean"  He looked at me and said, "How are we going to see the ocean from the valley???"  I told him that it was a secret road that would take us there.

Then my aunt Alicia comes over and says she knows just the place we could all go to.  She said that she doesn't have exact directions but that once she starts driving, that it will come to her.  So we all get in the cars. I ride in the front with my aunt and have about 2 other cars following us.  It is still dark and foggy.  My aunt starts driving very fast and I start to panic and ask her if she's sure she knows where she's going.  She says "Oh sure! Don't worry!"  We come to a narrow dirt road, there are a lot of tiny rocks on the ground.  It's dark, foggy and I can only see a few feet in front of me and my aunt is driving at 80 miles an hour.

I get scared as I see huge trailer trucks in the incoming traffic lane, as they pass it feels like if we are about to crash since the road is very narrow.  I yell at my aunt, "Aunt Alicia! Slow down!  Maybe I should drive!".  All of a sudden she starts to slow down and the fog starts to disappear.  I see that we are in front of a huge wall of snow.  I KNEW we'd get lost.  My aunt says "We're here!"

I say "Aunt, we are in front of a giant snow wall".  She says, "I know... we have to drive through that".  She then starts the car again and we drive right through the wall.  I am looking in amazement as the car goes through the snow wall and then we are at a meadow.  Everyone gets out of the car.  I notice a cabin and my aunt says that we should get the Salvadorian chicken tamales ready.  I asked her where were we going to buy the ingredients.  She says all we had to do is stick our arms in the snow wall and search for tamales.  They would be wrapped in green leaves and cold but that all she had to do was put them in hot water to cook them.  So several of us start shoving our arms into the wall searching for these tamales.  I was surprised when I felt something and amazed when I pulled out my arm with a tamale in my hand! lol  My stomach started growling, even though the tamale was frozen I was already seeing it hot and ready to eat.

All of a sudden my cousins start a soccer game (yes it is still night... all this is happening at night).  I join in as well but then out of the trees, this huge gorilla comes out.  I get scared but the others don't and act like they know him and continue playing the game like if it was just another person that joined in.  The huge gorilla starts running around and chasing the ball but I stop playing as I am too scared of him.  I start exploring the place by myself and go inside the woods a little.  Soon I discover some sort of Zoo or was it a a sanctuary?  I notice that there was an orangutang by the entrance dancing... persuading the people to go inside.  I noticed that his feet were too close together, he had some chains on his feet.  I got upset that the people would torture this orangutang, making him dance just to entertain people.  I set my mind to free him.  I get closer to him.  I stand right in front of him and I stare into his eyes trying to get him to trust me.  He stares back at me with sad eyes.  We stay staring at each other and that is when the dream ends.
