MY FIRST LUCID DREAM!

Well, I finally had my first lucid dream last night!  Only problem was that I got too excited!

In my dream, I was driving to work.  I remember looking over at the passenger seat and seeing my camera bag and felt glad I had it with me because it was a clear day and the view of the mountains in the distance had never looked more beautiful.  In real life, I have the view of the Sierra Nevada mountains and they look amazing in winter with all the snow.  The difference was that in my dream, the view of the mountains was in front of me instead of being on my right side.

So, I keep on driving and all of a sudden, I notice that there are NO other cars around.  It is completely empty and I think to myself "This is weird, did I come to work on a Saturday or is it some sort of special holiday, but even so, there still should be some traffic".  Then, a realization hits me and I pull over to the side of the road, more like screech to a halt, I quickly get out of the car and mentally prepare myself to make a statement, I say "Oh my goodness, I am dreaming!".  I have read that one of the things you should do right away when you realize you are dreaming is to do a reality check.    For me, it is my hands.  I will look at my hands and count my fingers to see if I am in a dream.  If I don't see 10 fingers clearly, I am dreaming.   So I put my hands in front of me and sure enough, my left hand had only three fingers!

That is when I got so excited at the realization that I could now do anything.  I felt a huge emotional energy and one of the things that a lot of lucid dreamers like to experience is flight.  So I thought, before this dream fades I want to do that right away.  So I crouch down and prepare to jump really high and I do!  I actually FELT like I was flying.  I was going up high, I kept coming down but I would push myself up again and it felt incredible, but I was way too much excited and I was losing the dream.  I remember trying to get control of it.  I kept saying, "no no no!"  I kept trying to focus on my hands again, but it was no use... the dream faded and I woke up but I had a big smile on my face! It was amazing to experience that even if it was only for a little bit.

I hope I can experience it again.  Hopefully I can remain calm next time and stay in the dream!  They say that the things that normally work is to try to spin around, or just keep doing something active like flying, or dancing, or anything to get the brain to stay in the dream.  They say you may find yourself transported to a completely different place once the scene has re-appeared.  You can even us the spinning action, or anything else that blurs your "dream vision" and imagine that you will appear somewhere else that you want to be, once you stop.

The Storm

So, the reason I keep this dream journal is because I hope to one of these days experience a lucid dream.  Has not happened so far...

I only remember last night's dream in bits and pieces.  The funny thing is, that before going to sleep, I watched a video about a girl explaining that water seemed to be present in a lot of her dreams and guess what appeared in mine?  Water! And a lot of it! It is so weird how the mind works sometimes but also very very fascinating!

So in my dream I am in some sort of camp and I have a towel with me with a bar a soap, looks like I need to take a shower and it seems like all of the restrooms are occupied.  A group of people with their towels and bars of soap also come up to me and we all decide to drive to a gym that was close by to use the showers there.  So there I am, waiting in line, two of my friends in real life (Brenda & Myra) also showed up in my dream and we are standing in line when I suddenly tell them that I would not be able to go inside the gym as I had cancelled my gym membership.  I told my friends that I would wait for them in the car while they took their showers.

The next thing I know... it is night time and very windy.  I am crossing the yard of a friend's house to my car that was parked on the sidewalk.  I can barely see because I am carrying a mountain of clothes with me, I think they were costumes.  It starts to sprinkle and my friends (the ones who were standing in line with me at the gym) are now inside the car waving at me and telling me to hurry and get inside the car because it has started raining.

All of a sudden a tall thin black dog appears and comes over to me, starts yanking one of the costumes, I remember it was a green piece of cloth with glitter in it.  I kept pulling the piece of cloth back and then realized it had gotten stuck in his tooth.  I calmed down and inspected his mouth and got the piece of clothing loose from his teeth.  By this time I am fully drenched as it is rainy really heavy.  I finally get to the car and throw all the clothes in there.  I start driving.  My two friends are with me inside the car but there are also a couple of other people I don't recognize.  It is dark and raining so hard that I can't see what is in front of me... only water hitting the windshield of my car and the headlights from other cars.  I just remember gripping the wheel very tightly, my hands looked white from fear and I kept saying... "please don't let me hit something... please don't let me hit something!"

I have no idea why I would drive in that situation... Looks like common sense was non existing in my dream lol

Telephone Ring

Well this is a first for me.  Something from the real world affected what was going on in my dream.  Because I didn't write down my dream right away, I forgot most of it, but what I do remember is this:

It was a cold foggy day, I was inside a car with some people who I did not know but they were my friends in my dream.  We were in a long line of cars that were going to this building that had a drive through service.  It seemed like an embassy office or some sort of agency that deal with immigration papers.  People would pull up, show some papers, the person would look at them and put a bunch of stamps on the papers before giving them back.    So, I was in the car and the line was very long.  The people with me decided to get out of line, park the car and sit on the bench in the park and just wait till it was less busy.

So there I am sitting on a bench.  My friends and I just chit chatting, some of us on checking our cell phones. All of a sudden, we hear a phone ringing.  We each check our phones to find out which is the one that is ringing.  The ringing sound doesn't stop, then, one of my friends tells me "Oh! I bet they are calling me asking me to bake a cake for the party! Tell them I'm not here!".  The ringing gets louder and louder and all of a sudden the ringing seems to be coming from the sky and all around us.  We all look at each other trying to figure out what is happening.  That is when my dream dissolves and I wake up and the phone is really ringing!  I get out of bed and answer the phone.  The dream had felt so real.  I thought to myself, I was just at a park, how am I answering the phone at the kitchen?  Hahaha  :)

The Giant Vulture

I had a strange dream the other day.

I am in my old house on Mariposa Avenue.  In my dream it was really early in the morning, like maybe 5am.  I am walking in the kitchen and my dog Shadow is with me, which is weird because Shadow never knew that house. He was born years later after we moved to my current home.  Anyway, Shadow is with me and I look out to the back yard and I see a big vulture in the middle of the yard with his wings spread out.  To his right was my other dog Pantera (who has passed away), she was lying down on the grass, looking up and growling at this vulture who would not move.

I opened the glass door to the back yard just slightly but as I did, I felt Shadow edge his way out and he ran towards Pantera & the vulture.  Pantera got scared and took off an the vulture also started flapping it's wings and also took off flying.  Shadow was left alone in the yard just barking.  He started running around in circles and I saw he was full of energy.  The next thing I know he starts jumping and he leaps over the 8 feet fence!

I just stood there staring ... not believing what had just happened.

Gorrillas in the Mist

I hate that when you wake up, you start to forget all the details of your dream, no matter how vivid they felt hours or even minutes before waking up.

Last night I had a strange dream.  I remember that it was winter, it was dark and foggy.  I, along with some friends and family were at an old Spanish Mission. It didn't have a roof.  Even though it was a little foggy, we could clearly see the night sky and the bright stars.  There was a Karaoke contest.  Each contestant had to choose a friend to sing with. I remember it was my friend Brenda's turn and before she went she turned to look at me and told me she had not had any time to prepare.  She grabbed her partner and they did a Celine Deon number.  It was awful, I saw some people shaking their heads.  I didn't want to tell her it was bad so when she finished and asked me what I thought, I told her I thought it was okay.  Another couple soon started singing and they got the crowd going, the music got louder and there was no doubt they had won the competition.

The next thing I know, the contest is over and it is just me with several cousins and aunts/uncles.  It was still dark and we were still in this old Mission.  My cousin Gerson asked me if I had any idea of anything fun we could do.  I told him that all of us could go for a walk.  He said, "Well, where would we go walking?  I don't think they want to see corn fields and dairies which is what's around this place".  I said, "Well, there is this place that I know of... it's a very long walk but it's a secret road that takes you to this amazing view of the ocean"  He looked at me and said, "How are we going to see the ocean from the valley???"  I told him that it was a secret road that would take us there.

Then my aunt Alicia comes over and says she knows just the place we could all go to.  She said that she doesn't have exact directions but that once she starts driving, that it will come to her.  So we all get in the cars. I ride in the front with my aunt and have about 2 other cars following us.  It is still dark and foggy.  My aunt starts driving very fast and I start to panic and ask her if she's sure she knows where she's going.  She says "Oh sure! Don't worry!"  We come to a narrow dirt road, there are a lot of tiny rocks on the ground.  It's dark, foggy and I can only see a few feet in front of me and my aunt is driving at 80 miles an hour.

I get scared as I see huge trailer trucks in the incoming traffic lane, as they pass it feels like if we are about to crash since the road is very narrow.  I yell at my aunt, "Aunt Alicia! Slow down!  Maybe I should drive!".  All of a sudden she starts to slow down and the fog starts to disappear.  I see that we are in front of a huge wall of snow.  I KNEW we'd get lost.  My aunt says "We're here!"

I say "Aunt, we are in front of a giant snow wall".  She says, "I know... we have to drive through that".  She then starts the car again and we drive right through the wall.  I am looking in amazement as the car goes through the snow wall and then we are at a meadow.  Everyone gets out of the car.  I notice a cabin and my aunt says that we should get the Salvadorian chicken tamales ready.  I asked her where were we going to buy the ingredients.  She says all we had to do is stick our arms in the snow wall and search for tamales.  They would be wrapped in green leaves and cold but that all she had to do was put them in hot water to cook them.  So several of us start shoving our arms into the wall searching for these tamales.  I was surprised when I felt something and amazed when I pulled out my arm with a tamale in my hand! lol  My stomach started growling, even though the tamale was frozen I was already seeing it hot and ready to eat.

All of a sudden my cousins start a soccer game (yes it is still night... all this is happening at night).  I join in as well but then out of the trees, this huge gorilla comes out.  I get scared but the others don't and act like they know him and continue playing the game like if it was just another person that joined in.  The huge gorilla starts running around and chasing the ball but I stop playing as I am too scared of him.  I start exploring the place by myself and go inside the woods a little.  Soon I discover some sort of Zoo or was it a a sanctuary?  I notice that there was an orangutang by the entrance dancing... persuading the people to go inside.  I noticed that his feet were too close together, he had some chains on his feet.  I got upset that the people would torture this orangutang, making him dance just to entertain people.  I set my mind to free him.  I get closer to him.  I stand right in front of him and I stare into his eyes trying to get him to trust me.  He stares back at me with sad eyes.  We stay staring at each other and that is when the dream ends.

Fireworks!

This dream is one I had very early in the morning because when I woke up it was still so fresh in my mind and I had to tell my brain to separate dream from reality.

Anyway, in my dream I was asleep in bed and I wake up because I heard some sounds in the kitchen. I went to the kitchen and then I heard my brother calling me for something. He was in the shower. I just yelled back "What?!" but noticed he didn't respond so I got closer to the bathroom and yelled again "What?!". Still nothing, I just heard the water running. Well that was weird, I thought.

I then go into the garage and notice that one of the cars is gone and I hear faint talk and music outside. The garage was halfway open and it still looked dark outside because it was probably around 3 or 4am in the morning. I saw a man's legs in the driveway and I opened the garage all the way up. What I saw next shocked me. The man was tall and he was dressed like a circus master. I went out to the front of the house and saw that there was some magical block party going on. It seemed like in each house, there was something interesting going. I looked up at the sky and saw some really interesting fireworks that I had never seen before. The designs and patterns they made in the night sky was breathtaking.

I asked the tall guy in my driveway where my car was and he said, "Oh don't worry Miss! What I have here for you are much more amazing cars! He then proceeded to show me two cars that he was trying to sell to me. One of them was a shiny green car parked on the lawn and the other one was a white Cadillac. I told him that I didn't like the green car and he said, "That's quite alright! I have many more you can choose from!" With that, he got on the green car and took off and said he would be back with another model. I was still amazed that this 'block party' was happening in the neighborhood. I noticed that my dad was talking with another man in the front lawn. My brother then comes out of the house and is as surprised as me to see everything that is going on. I told him to look at the fireworks.

I went inside the garage because I noticed that my mother was putting a bunch of clothes from the dryer into the Cadillac. I was confused and asked her what she was doing. She said, "Well, I'm putting the clothes in the Cadillac silly". lol She said, "I want to buy this car because it's spacious and a good place to put clothes once they come out of the dryer". I looked at my mom like she had grown a third head. Suddenly, I saw some men from across the street coming towards us carrying video cameras, microphones, etc. They said, "Miss! Can we interest your mother in making a music video?" My mom told me to tell them to leave, so I did.

When I went back outside, I noticed that the things seemed much calmer and quieter. I looked at my watch and saw it was getting closer to sunrise. As I looked around the neighborhood I saw that the entertainers were disappearing one by one. The sky was changing color and becoming brighter and the fireworks were gone as well. I looked at the garage and the Cadillac filled with clothes was gone and in its place was our regular car.

The sun came out and then, everything looked normal again. Everything and everybody was gone. It was just only me outside now. I was still in shock and confused at what I had just seen. I just said, "What... was that???"

Frogs

I was in a room that was considered mine although it didn't look like my room in real life. I was asleep in bed, wearing a long white nightgown.

It was around 5am in my dream and I was lying in bed. I turned my head and noticed that the wall was splattered with something green. I got out of the bed to look at it closely and as I did, I noticed a big....fat...huge frog, right in my room! it was the size of a basketball. I screamed because it looked hideous! I jumped up in my bed but the frog seemed to be as scared as I because it was jumping all over the place. We were both trying to get away from each other.

Finally, the frog and I were at the opposite ends of the room, staring at each other. The frog then opens it's mouth, makes a burping sound as three little green balls like rollie pollies roll out of his mouth and across the room near my feet. Then the balls open up into tiny frogs (not tadpoles) and I start to freak out as I realize that this frog is about to give birth to tiny frogs all over my room. The frog did that about 3 times and I had tiny frogs jumping all over my room. Then, the frog goes near my night table and he stands up and puts his arms on the table. I am standing behind him holding a stick and ready to smack it dead. I was about to so but then felt sorry for the frog because it looked like he was at a bar waiting for a drink. How could I kill it at such a moment? lol

Then the dream faded out.
