Garbanzo beans and water

Strange strange strange!
How did I have a dream about garbanzo beans - I don't even like them. Why are they in my head? lol

I had a dream with different scenes.  When I woke up, I only remembered one of them.
In my dream it was probably evening and there seemed to be some fog all around, even inside the buildings.

I was at a friend's house (Candida), in her kitchen.  Everything was made of wood - the cabinets, the floor - everything

I remember feeling thirsty and I asked Candida for a glass a water.  My friend grabbed a bucket - (yes made out of wood) and headed over to a pump and filled the bucket.  She then went to her backyard and I followed her.  It was darker now and kind of hard to see because there seemed to be a lot of fog surrounding everything.

I noticed a small hole in the ground.  Close by was a huge bag full of garbanzo beans.  She got a big scoop full beans and threw them inside the hole.  She then filled the hole with water.

She then knelt down on the ground and stuck her hand in the hole and started crushing the garbanzo beans and swirling them all around making the water look milky.  I was so confused by what she was doing.  "What are you doing Candida"? I asked her.  She said, "Well, didn't you say you wanted a glass of water?  I have to filter the water first because it's contaminated.  Not everyone has the luxury like you Carol who can just open the faucet in her kitchen and get some water to drink".  I was confused... and just looked at her and smiled a little.  I wasn't sure what else to do.

Fading dreams

I have had a couple dreams about the universe.
I sometimes feel I am surrounded by stars and constellations.  Planets that are so awe inspiring that it scares me.  It makes me feel very powerless and small.
The dreams fade quickly though   :(

Dream Quotes & Poem

"Dreams, if they are any good, are always a little bit crazy."
~ Ray Charles

"In dreams, we enter a world that's entirely our own"
~Steven Kloves

We're made of stars and dreams...

We're made of stars and dreams,
and glimpses of poetry,
gliding from the sky
into the unknown
carried away, by gentle winds
falling, sinking
deep down in the streams of time...

we're made of stars and dreams,
and echoes rising from
the woods..we are the ones
whose whispers
pierce the cosmic solitude!

we're made of stars and dreams,
somewhere far beyond
the wondrous night
and the iridescent beam of light,
somewhere...
at the edge of life itself
where our love will last forever

Well this will be a short post.
I haven't updated this dream journal in quite a while... there are about 3 dreams that I wish I would have written down because they were pretty wild.

So a couple of days ago I became lucid again for less than a minute.  I now know that my reality check are my hands.  In my dream I suddenly became aware I was dreaming, I checked my hands and sure enough they were not normal.  But there was too much noise in the real world and even though I tried to remain dreaming, I couldn't because of the noise.

It's pretty awesome to experience it although I have yet to REMAIN lucid for more than a minute!
Hopefully it happens! :)

MY FIRST LUCID DREAM!

Well, I finally had my first lucid dream last night!  Only problem was that I got too excited!

In my dream, I was driving to work.  I remember looking over at the passenger seat and seeing my camera bag and felt glad I had it with me because it was a clear day and the view of the mountains in the distance had never looked more beautiful.  In real life, I have the view of the Sierra Nevada mountains and they look amazing in winter with all the snow.  The difference was that in my dream, the view of the mountains was in front of me instead of being on my right side.

So, I keep on driving and all of a sudden, I notice that there are NO other cars around.  It is completely empty and I think to myself "This is weird, did I come to work on a Saturday or is it some sort of special holiday, but even so, there still should be some traffic".  Then, a realization hits me and I pull over to the side of the road, more like screech to a halt, I quickly get out of the car and mentally prepare myself to make a statement, I say "Oh my goodness, I am dreaming!".  I have read that one of the things you should do right away when you realize you are dreaming is to do a reality check.    For me, it is my hands.  I will look at my hands and count my fingers to see if I am in a dream.  If I don't see 10 fingers clearly, I am dreaming.   So I put my hands in front of me and sure enough, my left hand had only three fingers!

That is when I got so excited at the realization that I could now do anything.  I felt a huge emotional energy and one of the things that a lot of lucid dreamers like to experience is flight.  So I thought, before this dream fades I want to do that right away.  So I crouch down and prepare to jump really high and I do!  I actually FELT like I was flying.  I was going up high, I kept coming down but I would push myself up again and it felt incredible, but I was way too much excited and I was losing the dream.  I remember trying to get control of it.  I kept saying, "no no no!"  I kept trying to focus on my hands again, but it was no use... the dream faded and I woke up but I had a big smile on my face! It was amazing to experience that even if it was only for a little bit.

I hope I can experience it again.  Hopefully I can remain calm next time and stay in the dream!  They say that the things that normally work is to try to spin around, or just keep doing something active like flying, or dancing, or anything to get the brain to stay in the dream.  They say you may find yourself transported to a completely different place once the scene has re-appeared.  You can even us the spinning action, or anything else that blurs your "dream vision" and imagine that you will appear somewhere else that you want to be, once you stop.

The Storm

So, the reason I keep this dream journal is because I hope to one of these days experience a lucid dream.  Has not happened so far...

I only remember last night's dream in bits and pieces.  The funny thing is, that before going to sleep, I watched a video about a girl explaining that water seemed to be present in a lot of her dreams and guess what appeared in mine?  Water! And a lot of it! It is so weird how the mind works sometimes but also very very fascinating!

So in my dream I am in some sort of camp and I have a towel with me with a bar a soap, looks like I need to take a shower and it seems like all of the restrooms are occupied.  A group of people with their towels and bars of soap also come up to me and we all decide to drive to a gym that was close by to use the showers there.  So there I am, waiting in line, two of my friends in real life (Brenda & Myra) also showed up in my dream and we are standing in line when I suddenly tell them that I would not be able to go inside the gym as I had cancelled my gym membership.  I told my friends that I would wait for them in the car while they took their showers.

The next thing I know... it is night time and very windy.  I am crossing the yard of a friend's house to my car that was parked on the sidewalk.  I can barely see because I am carrying a mountain of clothes with me, I think they were costumes.  It starts to sprinkle and my friends (the ones who were standing in line with me at the gym) are now inside the car waving at me and telling me to hurry and get inside the car because it has started raining.

All of a sudden a tall thin black dog appears and comes over to me, starts yanking one of the costumes, I remember it was a green piece of cloth with glitter in it.  I kept pulling the piece of cloth back and then realized it had gotten stuck in his tooth.  I calmed down and inspected his mouth and got the piece of clothing loose from his teeth.  By this time I am fully drenched as it is rainy really heavy.  I finally get to the car and throw all the clothes in there.  I start driving.  My two friends are with me inside the car but there are also a couple of other people I don't recognize.  It is dark and raining so hard that I can't see what is in front of me... only water hitting the windshield of my car and the headlights from other cars.  I just remember gripping the wheel very tightly, my hands looked white from fear and I kept saying... "please don't let me hit something... please don't let me hit something!"

I have no idea why I would drive in that situation... Looks like common sense was non existing in my dream lol

Telephone Ring

Well this is a first for me.  Something from the real world affected what was going on in my dream.  Because I didn't write down my dream right away, I forgot most of it, but what I do remember is this:

It was a cold foggy day, I was inside a car with some people who I did not know but they were my friends in my dream.  We were in a long line of cars that were going to this building that had a drive through service.  It seemed like an embassy office or some sort of agency that deal with immigration papers.  People would pull up, show some papers, the person would look at them and put a bunch of stamps on the papers before giving them back.    So, I was in the car and the line was very long.  The people with me decided to get out of line, park the car and sit on the bench in the park and just wait till it was less busy.

So there I am sitting on a bench.  My friends and I just chit chatting, some of us on checking our cell phones. All of a sudden, we hear a phone ringing.  We each check our phones to find out which is the one that is ringing.  The ringing sound doesn't stop, then, one of my friends tells me "Oh! I bet they are calling me asking me to bake a cake for the party! Tell them I'm not here!".  The ringing gets louder and louder and all of a sudden the ringing seems to be coming from the sky and all around us.  We all look at each other trying to figure out what is happening.  That is when my dream dissolves and I wake up and the phone is really ringing!  I get out of bed and answer the phone.  The dream had felt so real.  I thought to myself, I was just at a park, how am I answering the phone at the kitchen?  Hahaha  :)
